Positive Material Indentification ( PMI ) Testing
Optical Emission Analysis
We use Spectrotest equipment as a solution to the problem of indentification
of metal alloys on site. Our equipment will indentify metallic and
most non-metallic elements. many clients require this type of testing
for carbon content qualification.
Ultrasonic
Nortest provides ultrasonic testing on pipework, castings, forgings
, steel structures and pressure vessels using conventional ultrasonic
testing methods, Time of Flight and Phased Array. Personnel are
qualified to PCN, CSWIP, ASNT , EN 273 and ISO 9712.
Dye Penetrant Testing
We maintain a variety of dye penetrant testing lines on our own
premises. Larger items are tested either on-site or at our premises,
using aerosol or liquid penetrant, water or solvent removable techniques.
Magnetic Particle Inspection
The Magnetic Particle Inspection method of Non-Destructive testing
is a method for locating surface and sub-surface discontinuities
in ferromagnetic material. It depends for its operation on the face
that when the material or part under test is magnetized, discontinuities
that lie in a direction generally transverse to the direction of
the magnetic field, will cause a leakage field, and therefore, the
presence of the discontinuity, is detected by use of finely divided
ferromagnetic particles applied over the surface, some of these
particles being gathered and held by the leakage field, this magnetically
held collection of particles forms an outline of the discontinuity
and indicates its location, size, shape and extent.
 Demagnetisation
we can provide demagnetisation of components which have either
been magnetised during service or after magnetic particle inspection.
Confirmation of demagnetisation is carried out using Gauss/ Tessia
meters.
Ferrite Testing
Radiography
Nortest performs radiography using X Rays and Gamma Rays both on
site and in house in each of our five radiography exposure bays.
capability includes half and full wave up to 300KV and isotopes
up to 50 Curies. Personnel are qualified to PCN, CSWIP and ASNT
.
