Ultrasonic examination of tubular lighting columns can be performed using portable testing equipment with instant results.

Qualified personnel are used to measure the thickness of each column, scan the area under test and record the results for reporting. Columns can be tested and corrosion can be detected in initial through to advanced stages.

Many columns may be old but yet still be in good condtion. Other columns start to corrode often from the inside working outwards. The rate of corrosion can be monitored at a later date before it is cut down. Columns found to be in poor condition are reported immediately to the local authority.

Testing can be carried out through the paint and

wall thickness reading can be taken to within

0.5mm accuracy.
